Finding yourself around Kiev (Kyiv)

admin December 11th, 2007

Kyiv is the city where the new and the old create excellent possibilities for historical and aesthetical exploration. Nevertheless, before you visit this fantastic city, take your time to decide on at least two points: where you will spend your nights and how you are going to get around the place.

Let us discuss choosing an apartment. Depending on your budget and your tastes, you could either choose to stay in a Kiev hotel, or rent an apartment. Mind the class of Kiev hotels to estimate the quality of the service and accommodation and the price you are willing to pay for it.

The Ukrainian capital boasts of several five and four star hotels. There are virtually dozens of less posh Kiev accommodation facilities. A luxury accommodation is going to cost you around $400-850 per 24 hrs, 4 stars will cost $150-$500, 3 star hotels will cost you about $70-300, 2 stars will cost from $50 to 120 and small and one star hotels cost around 25-100 per night.

There exist also several hostels in the city for youth. In a regular hostel you will have unpretentious but clean accommodation facilities and several sofas or beds in one and the same room.

If you are looking for an opportunity to save some buck, you might want to rent an apartment. For the cost of a modest hotel room in the price range of $90-150 you could get a luxury apartment in the city center. Inexpensive one-room flats may be rent for no more than $50. Some owners that give for rent this kind of Kyiv apartments may as well meet you at the airport. The rule of thumb of here is to book the apartment some days ahead.

In case you are tight with funds or want to experience something spicey, you may rent sleeping space in a train. There is a train depot not far from the train station
